As a former employee of the Catholic Church and a current international school counselor, I deeply understand the vital importance of child safeguarding. Over the past 20 years, I have received extensive training in child protection practices through the New York State Board of Education, the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the Brooklyn and Queens Diocese, RAW Training with Robin Watts, ICPA training with Tim Gerrish, and CBiTS training through the CIS Child Protection Deep Dive.

In addition to a comprehensive safeguarding policy and robust training for all stakeholders in child protection, it is necessary to offer alternative tools and strategies to help those who may be stuck in patterns of unhealthy methods of discipline. It is my firm belief that Positive Discipline education is a key component to any school’s or organization’s child safeguarding practice.

During my time at Bonn International School, I served as the Chair of the Child Protection Committee. In this role, I helped author our school’s safeguarding policies and procedures and provided training to my colleagues. In addition to bringing Positive Discipline into your school or organization, I am also available to offer basic training in Child Safeguarding practices for your staff and students. Training can include how to recognize signs of abuse, how to respond to a disclosure, how to assemble a CP team, and for students- how to stay safe. I am also happy to provide referrals for anyone seeking more extensive training.

“As a counsellor, Cristina was a powerful advocate for child protection and positive discipline at our school. She laid the groundwork for a positive and supportive school culture through her work with teachers and advocacy for students. Cristina’s professionalism is exceptional, and her passion for working with and advocating for young people is contagious. I am so grateful to have had the chance to work with her and admire her both as a professional and a person.”
