The past few months have been incredibly challenging. It sounds cliche at this point, yet it remains true- these are truly unprecedented times. And in everyone’s desire to be helpful and share articles, videos, and podcasts, it can feel overwhelming to see all of this information. It is almost another way to feel bad about ourselves- that if we’re not consuming all of these resources and putting these “helpful hints” into action, then we’re not doing enough.

In my own attempt to be helpful, I have highlighted the resources that I feel are most accessible. They include a Self-Regulation checklist I created for students, as well as a couple of articles, videos, and podcasts that I found most beneficial. Additionally, please allow me to offer just a few tips:

  • Please practice kindness and radical self-compassion. It is unrealistic to try and hold yourself and others to pre-COVID standards
  • Try setting just three goals for yourself each day- one professional, one household or family duty, and one self care. If you do nothing else but accomplish these three goals each day, you have done enough
  • When you’re feeling overwhelmed, please ask for help. You are not alone in this, and we all need to support each other
